ICD 9 CM

ICD 9 CM was developed by AMA by making changes to ICD 9, which is developed by WHO. AMA makes revision to ICD 9 codes every year and new codes are effective from October of that year. The United States is still using ICD 0 whereas other countries have switched to ICD 10. ICD 9 has two set of codes diagnosis and procedure codes. ICD 9 CM procedure codes are used for hospital inpatient procedual coding.
